Brush or Comb?
Do you brush your hair, comb your hair, or a little bit of both??
Always comb wet hair, don’t brush. Hair that is wet will expand due to the moisture that resides in it, if it expands too much it will snap. Brushes have many bristles and areas for hair to get wrapped around which will cause it to stretch and snap. Using a comb (I recommend a wide tooth comb) will result in much less stress to the hair.
Keep a wide-toothed comb in your shower. Sounds weird, but hear me out. Combing your hair while you have a conditioner on it is one of the BEST times to comb your hair. The conditioner adds some slip and allows you to detangle easily.
Brush your hair when completely dry and using natural bristles are typically the best. Make sure to gently brush your scalp as well because this can stimulate the hair follicle and blood flow allowing for a more healthy environment for your hair.
Natural shine- Brushing dry hair from scalp to ends helps to distribute the oils our scalp produces naturally. Not only does this help to avoid a greasy looking root area but it helps add shine.
Shampoo/scalp brush- the only brush I suggest to use on wet hair is a shampoo/scalp brush and that is because this type of brush is intended to be used on the scalp area. It has small “nubs” that help to break up buildup, stimulate blood flow, and provide relaxation.
Happy Tuesday!
